Welcome to Year 4
4CJ - Centaurs
Mrs Cunliffe & Mr James
4G - Minotaurs
Mr Goss
Spring has arrived and Year 4 are excited for all the fun learning that awaits.
We are enjoying Varmints by Helen Ward and Marc Craste, which is our beautiful picture book for this term. We are exploring character and setting descriptions through this powerful narrative of changing environments and the effects that it has on our world.
In Maths, children are currently learning about perimeter and are soon moving onto fractions. Please continue to engage with Times Table Rock Stars at home as this helps your child’s progress and confidence with multiplication questions that underpin most of what we do in school.
Please remember to send children in with swimming kits on Monday. We are really enjoying our weekly sessions at Dover Leisure Centre and the children are improving in ability and confidence in the water.
In other subjects, our future scientists have been learning about the water cycle and the three states of matter before moving onto our topic about electricity.
Our musicians are learning about the instruments in an orchestra as well as the major and minor key.
In RE, we are considering the metaphor of life as a journey and why Jesus may be inspiring to some people.
In PSHE, we will be exploring our health and wellbeing as we grow up!
Finally, we have been getting stuck into rivers in Geography, learning about their features and using Google Maps to locate rivers around the world.
